Joshua Tree National Park has nine campgrounds. The only campgrounds that offer water service and flushing toilet are Black Rock Canyon and Cottonwood. A fee is charged per night for each camping spot. Backcountry camping is also permitted on the grounds of Joshua Tree National Park with regulations. Joshua Tree National Park is particularly attractive to climbers for its easy access, variety of rock formations and sheer number of climbs. The rock walls at Joshua Tree National Park are formed from quartz monzonite, a rough type of granite. There are thousands of marked climbing routes easily accessible from trails, most of which reach heights of not more than 250 feet.
